Virginia Irene (Keefer) Pullen

Virginia Irene (Keefer) Pullen, 82, went to be with the Lord on June 9th, 2024 surrounded by her family. She was born in Metropolis, IL on July 21st, 1941 to Fred and Louise Keefer.

She was a loving and devoted mom and no one could ever leave her house without a snack or before playing a round of Aggravation. Virginia will be remembered most by having a servant heart and her love for the Catholic Church. She was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, where she played the organ, taught PSR, and was involved in many other activities. Her family and friends will remember her as having a cheerful disposition and always full of giggles. She met everyone with a smile and is loved and adored by her family. She worked for several years for the City of Metropolis in the City Clerk’s Office. 

Virginia is survived by her husband of 63 years, Tom Pullen (84). She is also survived by son, Mike Pullen (Lisa) of Nashville; daughter, Lynda Pestka (Joe) of Jefferson City, MO; 6 grandchildren, Kristen Pullen McDearmon (Ryan), Travis Pullen (Caroline), Darby Pullen Neyland (Andrew), Ryan Pestka (Kate), Katie Pestka, and Emily Pestka Arsenault (Daniel); 8 great-grandchildren; nephew, Thomas Bridges; brother-in-law, Jim Pullen (Molly). 

She is preceded in death by her parents; step-father, Tom Bridges; and her sister, Sue Keefer. 

Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 12th, 2024 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Metropolis, IL. Funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. at the church with Father Michael Mujule officiating. Burial will follow at Metropolis Memorial Gardens.

Memorial contributions may be given in Virginia’s name to St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 315 East 3rd Street, Metropolis, IL 62960.
