Vicki L. Swenney, 66 of Metropolis, IL, passed away on Sunday June 26, 2022 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, June 29, 2022 at the Metropolis Memorial Gardens with Darryl Neill officiating. There will be no visitation. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery.
Vicki was a devoted mother and grandmother, helping with anything they might need. She was a Girl Scout and spent many years volunteering with the Massac County Girl Scout Association. Vicki was also on the Franklin Elementary PTO, the Massac County United Way for a term and was a member of the Women’s Bowling Association.
Vicki is survived by her husband of 49 years, John R. Swenney; daughters, Claudia Sumner and husband James and Joni Sullivan and husband Don; three granddaughters, Chasity Sullivan, Kalissa Sullivan and Cheyenne Sumner; two great grandsons, Leon Lott and Erik Minnick; one brother-in-law, Kevin D. Swenney (Stacey); two sisters-in-law, Ruth E. Seibert (Bill) and Rose Swenney (Bud); several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Bobbie Allen; mother, Helen (Hall) Allen Hill; stepfather, Benjamin “Bus” Hill; sister and brother-in-law, Joyce Ann and Gerald Grimm; mother and father-in-law, Betty and John C. Swenney; brothers-in-law, Howard “Butch” Swenney and Jerry Swenney.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be given to the Massac County Patriots Marching Band Boosters, c/o Massac County High School 2841 Old Marion Road, Metropolis, IL, 62960 or the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt, 2200 Children’s Way, Nashville, TN 37232.
