Teddy McKee Jr. Obituary

Teddy Lowell McKee Jr., 67 of Metropolis, IL, went to be with his Savior on September 3, 2024 at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis, MO.

Teddy was born February 26, 1957 in Anna-Jonesboro, IL, son of Charlene (Love) McKee and Teddy Lowell McKee Sr. Tragically, his father died in an auto accident shortly before Ted’s birth.

Ted is survived by his dad, (only dad he ever knew), Jim Cornille; wife, Fae McKee; stepson and stepdaughter, Adley and Christy McCormick; the loves of his life, his grandsons, Brennen McCormick (Reese Ellis) and Kendrick McCormick; brothers, Mike McKee (Christine), Chris McGinness (Amy), sister, Pam (McGinnis) Peck; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and many friends that he considered family.

Ted was preceded in death by his mother, Char Cornille; sister, Beverly (McKee) Bennett; infant sister, Patricia McGinness; maternal and paternal grandparents.

Anyone who knew Ted, knew of his love and passion for cooking before, during, and after “LoveBea’s” restaurant. Ted was known for countless large dinners at the Moose, American Legion and other venues and even catered large events. Teddy also loved hunting and fishing. He was a pretty good pool player in his day, but after becoming disabled and his health continued to decline, he was no longer able to pursue those passions. At that time, he focused on customizing his trucks to reflect his love for the Chicago Cubs and Bears. He was a sports fanatic and as he said, “I’m a truck man, I just like trucks”, which showed in his Cubs truck and Bears truck.

Although Ted held several job titles in his life, his favorite was being “Papaw”. He fought hard to hold that ‘position’ as long as he could in this physical realm. The void left by Ted’s passing is immeasurable. He will be forever loved and missed by family and friends and live ion in our hearts “until we meet again”.

Cremation was entrusted to St. Louis Cremation in St. Louis, MO.

A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date for ALL of Ted’s family and friends.
