Tamica Kaye Smith, 56 of Metropolis, IL, formerly of Kalkaska, MI, passed away on Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at Lourdes Hospital in Paducah, KY with family by her side.
A memorial service will be held in Kalkaska, Michigan at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 18, 2024 at a location to be determined.
Tammy was the oldest of 6 kids. She wasn’t the biggest, but still remained “the boss” of her siblings. In 1987, she had a life-changing traumatic accident when she was just 19 years old. After a long recovery with many physical and mental disabilities, she was able to live her life independently, which is all she ever really wanted.
Tammy moved from Kalkaska to Metropolis in 2012 where she lived with her dog, Roxie all the way up until the end. She was stubborn and did most anything she wanted to do and no one could tell her she couldn’t. She loved her sweets and riding her scooter to the store. She was loved by her family and will be missed
Tammy is survived by her mother, LeAnn Leffingwell; daughter, Kattie Renee Leffingwell; grandchildren, ZeBulan Bacca and Nicky Brooks; sisters, Shan Parritt (Bud), and Toni Walters (Steve); brothers, Allen Leffingwell, Kalvin Taylor (Beverly), and Jessy Leffingwell (Lisa); several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
She was preceded in death by her father, Tony Leffingwell.
Arrangements are entrusted to Aikins-Farmer-Loftus-McManus Funeral Home. Condolences may be left for the family online at www.aikinsfarmer-millerfh.com.
