Robert Dale Wrye

Robert Dale Wrye, 66 of Metropolis, IL, passed away on Monday, January 13, 2025 at the Ray and Kay Eckstein Hospice Care Center in Paducah, KY, surrounded by family.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, January 17, 2025 at the Aikins-Farmer-Loftus-McManus Funeral Home with Rev. Frank Forthman officiating. Burial will follow in I.O.O.F. Cemetery.

Robert worked at Laidlaw for 20+ years, then went to work for Progress Rail until he retired. He loved construction and carpentry and took it up full-time after retirement.

Robert is survived by his mother, Dora Wrye; wife, Mary Wrye; children, Ralph Myers (Bobbi) and Gabriel Wrye; grandchildren, Logan Joiner (Haylee), Gavin Myers and Bailey Myers; great grandchildren, Dempsey Joiner and Callum Joiner; brothers, James Wrye and Samuel Wrye; sisters, Nancy Wrye and Linda Jacobs; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, J.L. Wrye; brother, Ralph Wrye; and granddaughter, Ansley Brooke Myers.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Friday, January 17th at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Garmaine Brown, Alan McFall, Gilbert Goodman, Lorenzo Goodman, Jerry Jacobs and Mack Goodman.

There will be a meal for all friends and family at the First Missionary Baptist Church, 408 W. 7th Street, Metropolis, IL 62960 after the graveside service. You are welcome to bring your favorite dish to share potluck-style.
