Robert "Bob" Wind

After a long hard battle from the effects of a stroke 27 years ago, Robert A. “Bob” Wind, age 77 of Metropolis, Illinois passed away at 1:35 pm on Sunday, January 19, 2020 at Mercy Health Lourdes.

Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Saturday, January 25, 2020 at the First United Methodist Church in Metropolis with Rev. Jon Cockrel officiating. Burial will follow in the Metropolis Memorial Gardens with military rites.

Robert married the love of his life, Thelma Stoller on May 9, 1965. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and a retired truck driver from Laidlaw Corp. Bob was an Army veteran and a member of the American Legion Post 306 and Masonic Lodge 91. He had a love of NASCAR and the Dodgers. 

Bob is survived by his wife of 54 years, Thelma Wind; three daughters, Kris Cagle, Julie Wind, and Elizabeth Bremer and husband Joel; three grandchildren, Stephanie Johnson and husband Keith, Claire and Max Bremer; 12 nieces and nephews, Debbie Serpette, Sherrie Withers, Shawn Wind, Shad Wind, Tim Stoller, Kenny Stoller, Ed Stoller, Becky Stoller, Jean Beal, Diana Kurkowski, Eric Stoller, and Krystl Miles; two sisters-in-law, Barbara Stoller and Midori Stoller; and beloved pet, Pepper.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and L. Margaret (Hepler) Wind; two brothers, Roger D. Wind and Jim A. Wind; and one nephew, Dan Stoller.

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 24, 2020 from 5 to 7 pm at the Aikins-Farmer-Loftus-McManus Funeral Home and on Saturday, January 25, 2020 from 9 am until the funeral hour at the First United Methodist Church.
