Richard "Dick" Loren Kotter

Richard Loren “Dick” Kotter, age 84 of Brookport, Illinois passed away at 6:38 am on Tuesday, November 26, 2024 at Baptist Health Paducah.

Funeral services will be held at 1 pm on Saturday, November 30, 2024 at the Aikins-Farmer-Loftus-McManus Funeral Home with Rev. David Kotter officiating. Burial will follow in the Metropolis Memorial Gardens.

Dick joined the U.S. Army when he was 17. During his service, he was stationed in White Sands, NM, and Germany. He worked at Allied Signal for many years in maintenance and production until his retirement. In his spare time, he enjoyed being a “shade tree mechanic” working on small engines and raced dirt tracks in his younger years.

Dick is survived by his sons, Richard Dale Kotter and wife Melissa, Christian Lee Kotter and wife Sarah, David Allan Kotter and wife Niki, and Charles Anthony Kotter and wife Ann; 14 grandchildren, Christy Bellinger, Stephen Kotter (Eve), Angie Johnson (Lewis II), Robert Reed (Shelby), Stephen Waggoner (Mary Kate), Sarena Campbell (Trey), Aliceann Goforth (Brent), Joseph Kotter, Jessica Schnake (AJ), Elizabeth Kotter (Jeremy Carmickle), Courtney Avila (Nathan), Daniel Kotter, Alyssa Kotter (Travis Ashley), John Kotter; 20 great grandchildren, Drew, Matt, Katie, Kamille, Emmalee, Preston, Lewis III, Eliza, Rosie, Robert, Ava, Arlo, Adeline, Lydia, Issaac, David, William, Marshall, Zoey, and Liam; two great-great grandchildren on the way; sister, Tina Peebles and husband Charlie; several nieces and nephews.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents, Loren Christian and Sarah Alice (Ashley) Kotter; wife of 62 years, Shirley (Owens) Kotter; sister, Katheryn Strickland and husband Tommy; great grandson, Brian Spurlin.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 30, 2024 from 11 am to 1 pm at the Aikins-Farmer-Loftus-McManus Funeral Home.
