Raymond W. Bowman, 78 of Metropolis, IL, passed away on Sunday, October 31, 2021 at Mercy Health Paducah.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 4, 2021 at Metropolis Memorial Gardens with Bro. Justin Wolfe officiating.
Raymond worked at and retired from Honeywell after over 30 years. He worked at Gleason Dragway in Gleason, TN for many years and currently worked at and was very involved with Beacon Dragway in Paducah for the past 8 years. He was lovingly referred to as “The Old Man” at the race track and was thought of as family. Raymond was an extremely dedicated and hard-working man. He would do anything for anybody and would stay with them until the task was complete. Until his health prevented it, he loved and worked tirelessly in his yard keeping up his grass, flowers and shrubs to look like what many people referred to as “a park”.
Raymond is survived by his step sons, Bryan Lamb (Tina) and Kevin Lamb (Cathy); grandchildren, Vanessa (Richard), Clint (Kayla) and Kyle; great granddaughters, Abrielle and Adeline; sister, Ruth Ann; brother, Kenneth; special nephew, Corey; and many other nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Lois (Ball) Bowman; wife, Kaye Bowman; and sister, Sue.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 3, 2021 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Aikins-Farmer-Loftus-McManus Funeral Home in Metropolis.
Memorial contributions may be given in Raymond’s name to Paducah Bank c/o Ratoberfest 555 Jefferson Street, Paducah, KY 42001. Condolences may be left online at www.aikinsfarmer-millerfh.com.
