Patricia “Pat” Gail Polk Long was born October 26th, 1944 in Paducah, Kentucky to Charles and Mable Polk. She and her husband Arthur Wendell was joined in holy matrimony almost 54 years ago. Pat moved to Metropolis in 1967. She became an active member of St. Paul A.M.E. Church and was a part of the Church for over 50 years, Rev. Ronnie Woods sitting Pastor.
Pat leaves behind her husband Arthur Wendell; one son, Wendell Rene Long (Robbin) of Paducah KY, and three daughters; Maria Long of Metropolis IL, Sharon Willis (Jay) of Chicago IL, and Felicia Gail Long of Paducah KY; Nine grandchildren, Chelsea, Ariel and Eli (Phyllis Terry), Kennedy and Hannah, Kendall and Aubrey, Sydnei, Jayceon and Myles; One Great-Granddaughter Addison; Two Great-Grand Sons, Wendell Avery and Josiah Daniel; two devoted sisters: Faye Clemons of Paducah, KY and Janie (Guy) Tinsley of Atlanta Ga and One Brother in Law, Kenneth Dunlap of Sacramento, CA. She also leaves behind a whole host of Nieces, Nephews, Great- Nieces, Great- Nephews, family and many special friends including her long time best friend Jane Ellen Adams and close friends Jeff and Lisa Welch.
After enduring a long illness, on March 12th, Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ called her home. She was surrounded by her loving husband and all of her children. She was preceded in death by her parents Mable and Charles, four siblings Fred Arnold, Alice Joy (David), Charles Elmo (Texie), and Virginia (Sue); Brother in Law Bill Clemons; one son Brandon Patrick and one granddaughter Ali Nicole.
Visitation will be Wednesday, March 18th from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at St. Paul AME Church in Metropolis, IL. Homegoing Celebration will begin at 1:00 pm. Aikins-Farmer-Loftus-McManus Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
