Norma Jo (Eddings) Goodwin

Norma Jo Goodwin, 85, formerly of Metropolis, Illinois and Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away on Monday, March 20, 2023 at her home in Albuquerque, New Mexico. 
 
Norma is survived by her children, Carl Goodwin and Jane Hotchkiss (Chris); grandsons, Robert and Joseph Hotchkiss; great-grandchildren, Lucien, Adrianna, and Baylee Hotchkiss; and former husband, Harris A. Goodwin (Mary Ellen Merrigan). Norma is also survived by numerous cousins from coast to coast and especially the Metropolis, Illinois and Paducah, Kentucky area.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Norman K. and Harriet Madelyn Eddings; brother, Richard L. Eddings; and grandson, Chris "CJ" Hotchkiss. 

Norma has been described as a great lady and a good friend. She was dedicated to her family and a thoughtful friend to all. Norma loved spending time with family and friends and celebrating any and every special occasion. She was a member of Heights Church of Christ, Albuquerque at the time of her passing and was a previous member of Montgomery Blvd Church of Christ. 

Norma loved driving her Ford Mustang Convertible and always liked to mention that she was born in Metropolis, Illinois, the home of Superman. 

Norma was a secretary and administrative assistant for over 53 years and loved her work. She spent 34 years as a Civil Servant at locations ranging from Elmendorf Air Force Base, Alaska to Kirtland Air Force Base, Albuquerque. She also proudly served at Sandia National Laboratories for 19 years. 

A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 26, 2023 at FRENCH- Lomas Funeral Home in Albuquerque, NM. Visitation and viewing will begin at 12:30 p.m.

A small Graveside Service will be conducted by Loftus-McManus Funeral Home in Metropolis, Illinois at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, April 1, 2023 at Metropolis Memorial Gardens, 2824 North Ave Metropolis, IL 62960.
