Mary Ann (Mittendorf) Foss

Mary Ann Foss, 83 of Massac County, IL, passed away on Sunday, August 21, 2022 at Baptist Health Paducah.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 24, 2022 at Metropolis Memorial Gardens with Rev. Keith Tilford officiating. There will be no visitation. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery.

Mary was a member of First Christian Church and the Massac County Republican Women and retired from B & S Bus Service after over 30 years. She enjoyed crocheting, cross-stitching, baking, and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mary also liked to mow, garden and help her husband Ernest on their farm. She was a very multi-faceted woman who loved and was loved by her family and will be deeply missed.

Mary is survived by her sons, Steve Foss and wife Paula and Dwight Foss; granddaughters, Heather Foss and Stephanie Woodward and husband Barry; great grandchildren, Emrey, Henry and Mack; brother and sisters-in-law, Dale Mittendorf and wife Frances, Patsy Foss, and Bernice Reynolds; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin and Anna (Sundmacker) Mittendorf; husband of 64 years, Ernest Foss; and brothers-in-law, Harry Foss, Harold Foss and Bobby Reynolds.

Memorials may be given in Mary’s name to First Christian Church, 420 Catherine Street, Metropolis, IL 62960.

The family would like to say a special thank-you to the staff at Southgate Nursing and Rehabilitation for the excellent care they provided to Mary.

Honorary pallbearers will be Kevin Foss, Mike Reynolds, Rob Korte, Barry Woodward, David Wilke, and Ryan Frazine.
