Lois Elaine Rushing passed away at her home on Saturday, February 22, 2020. She was a Christian and attended the Hillerman Baptist Church in the Karnak area. As a member of the Baptist faith, she believed in the Bible. 2 Corinthians 5:8 says “We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.” We know she is there now.
She was born in Metropolis, Illinois in 1936 to Hillis Wyman Fry and Dorothy Humes Fry. Lois lived in Chicago part of her life, but returned to her home in Metropolis. Lois was a loving mother to six children and their spouses: Donna Severns and husband Mike, Keith Yates, Terry Turner and wife Carol, Danny Turner and wife Sonya, David Turner, and Randy Rushing and wife Kathy. Lois has many grandchildren that she loved with her whole heart: Rachel Womack, Leah Reichert, Melissa Forbes, Randy Rushing Jr., Daniel Rushing, Joseph Rushing, Danny Turner, Dustin Turner and Carrie Turner. She also has many great grandchildren and even some great great grandchildren. She was a wonderful woman who loved her family.
Lois also loved to play cards, swim, watch TV, shop, and visit with her family. She also helped in Sunday School class with the children of the church. She collected cans for students in St. Louis so that they could receive much needed school supplies. She had a very giving heart and would help anyone who asked her.
She is preceded in death by her parents Hillis Wyman Fry, Dorothy Humes Fry, her brother Johnny, her sister LuJean, as well as her son Danny Turner.
All who knew her will miss her. Private Family Graveside Services will be Friday at 4:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Gideon’s, so the love of God that Lois knew can be spread around the world.
