Lewis Johnson

Lewis “Pawpaw Bear” Johnson, 70 of Metropolis, IL, passed away on Wednesday, June 26, 2024 at his residence.

Services will be held at a later date.

Lewis enjoyed fishing and woodworking, making 3D puzzles, but most importantly, he loved being a Pawpaw.

Lewis is survived by his children, Melissa Kotter and husband Richard Dale, Lewis Johnson II and wife Angela, and Charles Johnson and wife Crystal; stepchildren, Connie Carnes and husband Mike and Paul Martin and wife Sarah; grandchildren, Robert Reed (Shelby), Stephen Waggoner (Mary Kate), Lewis Johnson III, Nolan Johnson, Abigail Parrish, Lexi Parrish, and Damian Lee; several step grandchildren and great grandchildren; siblings, Cindy Bullard, Robert Johnson, Charles Johnson, Walter Johnson, John Johnson, and Kenny Johnson; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Frances (Blankenship) Johnson; grandchildren, Brian Spurlin and Enola Jo Johnson; brothers, Milton “Goat” Johnson, Louis Blankenship and Ernest Johnson.
