Lavere "Chuck" C. Windhorst

Lavere C. “Chuck” Windhorst (93), of Gilbertsville, Kentucky formerly of Metropolis, IL and Chatham, IL, passed away on Thursday, October 24th, 2024.  Lavere graduated from Metropolis Community High School and Southern Illinois University Graduate School, Carbondale, Illinois.  He was a teacher and a Vocational Administrator/ Consultant for The Illinois State Board of Education.

Chuck is survived by his son Charles, daughter Sheri (George), grandson Ryan (Taylor), granddaughter Nichole (Mike), great grandson Nolan, sister-in-law Barbara, and several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Mabel Windhorst, his wife of 35 years, Donna M. Windhorst, and an infant sister.

A private memorial service will take place on Friday, May 2nd at Zion United Church of Christ Cemetery at 4826 Benton Road, Metropolis, Massac County, Illinois.
