Julia Rose Smith, 84, passed away Tuesday, May 3, 2022 at her daughter’s home in Metropolis.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 7, 2022 at the First Baptist Church in Metropolis with Dr. Joe Buchanan and Rev. Trad York officiating. Burial will follow in Metropolis Memorial Gardens.
Julia was a member of First Baptist Church Metropolis and a dedicated member of her Sunday school class, which she loved. She enjoyed going to the beach with her late husband Samuel and family, watching her grandchildren play sports with their other grandma, Judy Duckworth, as well as going to the movies and out to eat with her. Julia was happiest spending time with her family.
Julia is survived by one daughter, Kristi Duckworth and husband Brad; two grandchildren, Caleb Duckworth and wife Allie and Bailey Duckworth; sister, Ann Reasons and husband Dan; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Kay and Preston Brewer; nieces and nephews, Kalisa Nyberg (Jason), Kyle Heine (Kelly); Kevin Brewer, Karen Thomas, Kim Howard, Tim Reasons, Michelle Reasons, and Dana Culbertson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John W. and Mary (Menser) Schoening; husband of 51 years, Samuel Neil Smith; one daughter, Teresa Renee Smith; and one sister, Janice (Schoening) Howard.
Visitation with the family will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 7, 2022 at the First Baptist Church.
