Juanita June (Walter) Lukens was born on July 6, 1927 in Metropolis, Illinois to Clyde Paul Walter and Blanche Elizabeth (Cagle) Walter. She passed away peacefully in the presence of her family on March 1, 2020 in St. Luke's Hospital, Chesterfield, Missouri.
She is survived by her family members, Beverly June Bess and her husband Rudy Bess of Hazelwood, Missouri and Beth Ann Lynn of Overland Park, Kansas, granddaughter Meagan Elizabeth Campbell, her husband Mark P. Campbell of Overland Park, Kansas, grandson Jeffrey Allen Bess, St. Peters, Missouri, great granddaughter Andrea Rose Jumper of Fenton, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 68 years, George Junior Lukens of Metropolis, Illinois, her brother Clyde Paul Walter, Jr., her sister Dorothy Jean Beck of Muskogee, Oklahoma, and son-in-law Mark E. Lynn of Lenexa, Kansas.
Juanita was devoted to her family, an ardent fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, enjoyed antiquing, travelling, the Fox theatre, sewing for her family, gardening, reading and being a member of the Hazelwood Baptist Church.
Graveside services are being held at noon in Metropolis Memorial Gardens, Metropolis, Illinois with Pastor Louie Williams of the Hazelwood Baptist Church officiating.
Family members and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery for the memorial services. Arrangements are being handled by the Aikins-Farmer-Loftus-McManus Funeral Home, Metropolis, Illinois.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
