Joyce Elaine Walter

Joyce Elaine Walter, age 75 of Massac County, Illinois passed away at 6:45 am on Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at Baptist Health Paducah.

Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Friday, June 8, 2018 at Miller-Loftus-McManus Funeral Home in Metropolis with Pastor David Krueger officiating. Burial will follow in the Anderson Cemetery.

Joyce had formerly been employed at CTS in Paducah for several years and was a retired hairdresser. She was a member of Zion United Church of Christ and the Massac County Home and Community Education.

Joyce lived her life with the heart of a servant. She loved God and loved her family. She always placed the needs of others before her own. She dedicated herself to caring for her parents, aunts, and uncles in their later years; nephews, nieces, and great-nephews and nieces while they were young. She demonstrated the hands and feet of Christ in every detail of her life, including her volunteer work with 4-H, Massac County Home and Community Education (HCE), and Zion United Church of Christ.

Joyce is survived by 2 sisters, Lora Ann Bishop of Paducah, KY and Norma Sue Korte and husband Steve of Belknap, IL; 1 brother, Allen Dale Walter and wife Linda of Metropolis, IL; nieces and nephews, Deidra Garrett and husband Wayne of West Paducah, KY, Beth Stokes and husband William of West Paducah, KY, Darryl Korte and wife Sheila of Belknap, IL, Daniel Korte and wife Tiffany of Belknap, IL, Shannon Bomar and husband Kevin of Cottage Grove, TN, Allen Douglas Walter and wife Jennifer of Benton, KY, and Debra Korte of Urbana, IL; several great nieces, great nephews, and cousins; and 1 great-great nephew.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Clellan and Helen A. (Conant) Walter and an infant sister, Eleanor Rose Walter.

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 8, 2018 from 9 am to 11 am at the Miller-Loftus-McManus Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made in Joyce’s memory to the Massac County Youth Fair, Ronald McDonald House, Lower Salem Cemetery, or Anderson Cemetery, c/o Miller-Loftus-McManus Funeral Home, P.O. Box 760, Metropolis, Illinois 62960.

Pallbearers will be Joyce’s nieces and nephews.
