Joe Edwin Williams

Mr. Joe Edwin Williams, age 89 of New Columbia, Illinois formerly of Cairo, Illinois passed away on Tuesday morning April 25, 2023 at his residence.

Funeral service will be held at 2 pm on Friday, April 28, 2023 at the Mighty Rivers Worship Center in Cairo, Illinois with Rev. Larry Potts officiating.

Joe had worked as a Realtor, Insurance Broker, Educator, and Mortgage Company President. He was member of Mighty Rivers Worship Center, Cairo Presbyterian Church, Cairo Masonic Lodge #237, and Ainad Shrine Temple. He served his country in the Army Reserve ROTC program as a 1st Lieutenant. He was an instructor for woodland survival, nuclear warfare, and had attended schooling for tank commander and ranger school.

Joe is survived by his children, Geoff (Debbie) Williams, Laurie (Billy) Berry, Robin Williams and their mother, Ann Williams; Joella (David) Garrett and her mother Mary Droge; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; several cousins.

Joe was preceded in death by his biological parents, Jesse Anderson and Olive Louise (Giles) Williams and his uncle and aunt who adopted him, Joe Moore and Ruth Curtis Williams.

Visitation will be held on Friday, April 28, 2023 from 12 noon to 2 pm at the Mighty Rivers Worship Center in Cairo.

Memorials may be made in Joe’s name to the Shriners Hospital for Children, P.O. Box 947765, Atlanta, GA 30394.
