Janice Giltner Obituary

Janice Carole Douglas Giltner, age 78, of Brookport, IL, moved into her mansion on Thursday, May 30, 2019.

Funeral services will be held at 1 pm on Saturday, June 1, 2019 at Waldo Baptist Church with Rev. Jack D. Russell officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Sterling Cemetery in Brookport, IL.

Mrs. Giltner was a life-long member of Waldo Baptist Church, serving at one time as secretary. She also served in the nursery, Bible School, the meal ministry, W.M.U. and as a deacon’s wife. Janice worked at Brookport National Bank as a bookkeeper until retiring in 1973 to take care of her children and family. In 1996, she came out of retirement and served as Dr. Kyle W. Heine D.M.D. receptionist, retiring at the age of 70 in 2010.

Janice will always be known and loved as a Godly woman and a prayer warrior who loved and served God and her family whole heartedly. “It’s all for His glory.”

Janice is survived by her brother, Lyle “Stub” Douglas and wife Marjorie of Louisville, KY; two biological children, Donald Ray Giltner and wife Kila and Jana Marie Jeffords and husband Charles “Chuck”; two nieces she loved as her own, Danita (Douglas) Harris and Dalena (Douglas) Doolin and husband Kenny; four grandchildren, Quaid Adams and wife Lendsey, Kagney Adams, Katie Jeffords and Charles “Charlie” Jeffords all of Brookport; a great niece and nephew she loved as grandchildren, Ashley (Harris) Frey and husband Brandon of Highland, IL and Blake Harris of Brookport; four great grandchildren, Arieonna Peebles, Kendrea Peebles, Harper Adams, and Tyler Adams all of Brookport; a great-great nephew she loved as a great-great grandson, Porter Frey of Highland, IL; a sister-in-law, Nancy Douglas; a brother-in-law, Ira L. GIltner and wife Hazel all of Brookport; sister-in-law, Madge Holly of Landrum, SC; and several other nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John Paul and Katie (Faughn) Douglas; a brother, Charles Leary Douglas; an infant brother, David Neal Douglas; and her husband of 37 years, Don Giltner.

Visitation will be held from 11 am until the funeral hour at 1 pm on Saturday, June 1st at Waldo Baptist Church.

Arrangements are entrusted to Aikins-Farmer-Loftus-McManus Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be her nephews, Ronald Douglas, Tod Douglas, James Douglas, Jake Douglas, Richard Douglas, and Blake Harris.

Honorary pallbearers will be Douglas “Doug” Harris and Kenneth Doolin.
