James V. Wiley

James V. Wiley, 69, of Brookport, IL, passed away at his home on Tuesday, June 13, 2023.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 16, 2023 at Hastings Cemetery with Greg Garner officiating. There will be no visitation. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery.

James was an outdoorsman who loved fishing, hunting and especially bow hunting. He was a big jokester and enjoyed spending time with his family and in particular his grandkids and great granddaughter.

James is survived by two daughters, Jamie Bush and Shannon Garner and husband Greg; son, Jerry Ray Smith; eight grandchildren, Nicole Turner, Awna Garner, Kaitlyn Wiley, Caleb Garner, Jerry Ray Smith II, James Ray Wayne Smith, Jinnie Rae Smith and Jaelynn Rae Smith; one great granddaughter, Jeralynn Turner; companion for 8 years, Peggy Johnston; sisters, Judy Tanner, Shirley Tanner and Lula Belle Kickasola; brothers, Bobby Wiley, J.L. Wiley and Otis Wiley; many, many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Landis and Freda (Stone) Wiley; daughter, Stephanie Wiley; sisters, Ruth Varvel, Berniece Wiley, and Dorothy Sexton; brothers, Pete Wiley, Scottie Wiley, Robert Wiley and Arlen Wiley.
