Gerald Elvis Searles

Gerald Elvis Searles, 80 of Metropolis, IL, passed away on Thursday, October 5, 2023 at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 12, 2023 at Aikins-Farmer-Loftus-McManus Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Metropolis Memorial Gardens.

Gerald retired after 37 years from Electric Energy Inc. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and enjoyed fishing, quail hunting and listening to St. Louis Cardinals games. What brought him the most joy though, was taking care of his grandkids.

Gerald is survived by his daughter, Jodi Searles; sons, Darron Searles (Amy), Austin Searles and Tyler Searles (Bri); grandchildren, Drake Stepter, Brooke Stepter, Carter Searles and Ella Searles; great grandchildren, Colton Searles, Easton Searles, and Riley Searles; sisters, Ann Mitchell, Darlene Shelby (John) and Pam Bremer (Mitch); special friend, Carmen Thompson; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lonnie Elvis and Anna Pauline (Bormann) Searles; wife, Joyce Searles; stepson, Mike Stepter; brother-in-law, Charles Mitchell.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 12th from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
