Gearldine Holt, 93, of Metropolis, Illinois, passed away peacefully on March 11, 2025, in Metropolis.
She was born on October 30, 1931, to her parents Robert (Dick) W. Goodwin and Neta Pearl (Walden) Goodwin in Ada, Oklahoma. She attended Bee Bee and Worstel Schools as a young lady, and she obtained her GED and attended Pima Community College in Tucson. She later went on to enjoy careers as a manager of Circle K’s, bus driver for Pima County, and a cashier for Walmart for over ten years. Gearldine enjoyed crocheting, ceramics, reading, playing cards, and spending time in her garden growing vegetables and tending to her flowers. She dearly adored her family. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her world. Gearldine was a loving and kind woman who will be dearly missed by her loving family and friends.
Gearldine is preceded in death by her parents, Robert (Dick) W. Goodwin and Neta Pearl (Walden) Goodwin; son, Ronald Ferguson; daughter, Kathryn McCormick; granddaughter, Shawna M. Tina; twin sister, Jolene Hawkins; sister, Nevada (Tate) Pickens; brothers, James Malloy and W.N. (Hoot) Goodwin; and her husbands, Thomas W. Ferguson and James M. Holt.
Gearldine is survived by her son, Joe Ferguson; daughter, Deanna L. Wilson; son, Robert W. Ferguson; daughter, Velma A. McAlister; and daughter, Rinda E. Dye; twelve grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
Honorary pallbearers included Joshua Rounds, Cortney Ferguson, James Ferguson, Robert Ferguson, Maverick Ferguson, Travis McCormick, Larry Ferguson, Charles Ferguson, Daniel Rounds, Jonathan Dye, Andrea M. Tellez, Brendan Rounds and Sherri Conners.
A graveside service was held at Maxwell Cemetery, west of Ada on Tuesday, March 18th, 2025 at 11:00AM. Visitation was held at Phillips Funeral Home in Ada, OK on Monday, March 17, 2025, from 4:00PM - 7:00PM.
