Gail (Carr) Powell

Gail (Carr) Powell, age 87 of Metropolis, Illinois passed away at 9:20 am on Saturday, May 10, 2025 at the Southgate Nursing and Rehabilitation Center surrounded by her family.

Funeral services will be held at 1 pm on Wednesday, May 14, 2025 at the Aikins-Farmer-Loftus-McManus Funeral Home with Rev. Victor Long officiating. Burial will follow in the Metropolis Memorial Gardens.

Gail is survived by her sons, Ken Moore and Doug Moore; daughter, Amy Darnell and husband Brad; grandchildren, Bobby Davis, David B. Davis (Allie), Alex Neihoff, Abby Neihoff, Ezra Darnell (Hannah), and Sylas Darnell; great grandchildren, Natalie Davis and Kasen Darnell; brother, Bob Carr; sisters, Linda Rick and Lorna English; son-in-law, David P. Davis; several nieces and nephews.

Gail was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest Odell “Donk” and Sarah Elizabeth (Riley) Carr; husband, Ralph W. Powell; daughters, Kristie Ann Isoline and Pamela Jo Davis; grandson, Jason Michael Click; sister, Louise Dieckman; brother, Bill Carr.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 14, 2025 from 12 pm to 1 pm at the Aikins-Farmer-Loftus-McManus Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made in Gail’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105 or Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Floor 17, Chicago, Illinois 60601.

Pallbearers will be Brad Darnell, Bobby Davis, David B. Davis, Ezra Darnell, Alex Neihoff, and Bryce Willoughby.
