Erlene (Loverkamp) Kruger

Erlene Kruger, 91 of Metropolis, IL, passed to her eternal reward on Thursday, July 10, 2025 at Massac Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, July 13, 2025 at St. Stephens Lutheran Church with Pastor Tom Emmerson officiating. Burial will follow in Metropolis Memorial Gardens.

Erlene was a life-long member of St. Stephens Lutheran Church and a member of the Good Shepards Circle at church. She loved cooking and had worked as a cashier at Metropolis Drugs. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who will be dearly missed.

Erlene is survived by her daughter-in-law, Debbie Kruger; granddaughter, Misty Sanderson and husband Stephen; grandson, Marcus Kruger; 3 great grandchildren, Braxton, Bronson, and Brexley Sanderson; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Caroline (Maedeker) Loverkamp; husband of 54 years, Orval Kruger; son, Stanley Kruger; and brother, Lowell Loverkamp.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm on Sunday, July 13, 2025 at the church.

Pallbearers will be Marcus Kruger, Stephen Sanderson, Lynn Loverkamp, Logan Loverkamp, Levi Loverkamp, and Justin Tate. Honorary bearers will be Braxton Sanderson and Bronson Sanderson.

Memorial contributions may be given in Erlene’s name to St. Stephens Lutheran Church 6874 Midway Road, Metropolis, IL 62960.
