Emma Louise (Flintzer) Hanak

Emma Louise Hanak, 99 of Brookport, IL, formerly of Ronkonkoma, NY, passed away on Friday, June 21, 2024 at her home.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 23, 2024 at the Loftus-McManus Brookport Funeral Home with Tim Pearcy officiating.

Emma was a founding member of the Lakeland Fire Department Women’s Auxiliary where she served as president and secretary. She was a girl scout leader, a polling judge during elections, and loved camping with her family in upstate New York. She would go on rides with her husband, Les, to the North and South shores to fish and collect clams to cook. Emma enjoyed the “Reli Rallies” (family gatherings) that they would host while in New York and spent much time canning all of the wonderful fruits and vegetables such as beets, green beans, corn, apples, raspberries and strawberries Les grew in his big garden.

Emma is survived by her son, Leslie Hanak and wife Nancy; daughter, Andrea Douglas; 7 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Harriet Flintzer; husband of 71 years, Les Hanak; daughter, Sharon Nelson (John); son, Ted Hanak (Maria); son-in-law, David Douglas; 1 brother and 1 sister.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 23rd from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Loftus-McManus Brookport Funeral Home.
