Ellen "Corky" Hunerkoch

Ellen “Corky” Hunerkoch, 74 of Metropolis, IL, passed away on Friday, January 6, 2023 at Baptist Health Paducah.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 10, 2023 at the Aikins-Farmer-Loftus-McManus Funeral Home with Rev. David Deem officiating.

Ellen was born on March 25, 1948 in Chicago, IL to George and Thelma (Sumpter) Padalik. She married Gale “Whitey” Hunerkoch on August 13, 1965. Ellen was a member of Lutheran Church of the Cross and very involved with her church family. Her prides and joy were her grandchildren and she was a deeply devoted family woman who will be missed by them all.

Ellen is survived by her husband of 57 years, Gale “Whitey” Hunerkoch; her children, Chrissy Mayer (Mindy), Valerie Hunerkoch, Lori Hunerkoch (Delores Powell) and Angie Hunerkoch; grandchildren, Jessica Buurman (Rich), Timothy Dorobiala, Noel Rutar, Shelby Ashley (Dalton), Laisha, Zion, Chris Powell and Jon Powell; great grandchildren, Meagan, Stokelyn, Lidia, and J.J.; sisters, Jeannie Klimenko (Nick) and Priscilla Waugh (Jim); brothers, Christopher Padalik, Ronnie Padalik and Jeff Wachowski; many nieces and great nieces and nephew.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Rick Padalik and Paulie Wachowski; and niece, Katie Welch.

A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 12 noon until 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 10, 2023.
