Eldon Jaco, 75 of Metropolis, IL, passed away on Tuesday, July 18, 2023 at the Metropolis Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
A celebration of life memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 23, 2023 at the Veterans Memorial Park with Rev. Bobby Parker officiating and military rites. There will be no visitation. Family and friends are asked to meet at the park.
Eldon was an Army veteran that served in Alaska during the Vietnam Conflict. He has served as Senior Vice Commander at AmVets Post 132 and as Membership Officer. Eldon worked as a lineman for the City of Metropolis for over 10 years and retired from Kotter Concrete after 20 years.
Eldon is survived by his son, Bobby Jaco and wife Katie; daughter, Debbie Aburto and husband Tony; grandchildren, Alexandra Aburto, Nicole Roles, Ashley Stickley (Mason), Sam Klaffer (Matt), Paula Pomboza (Esteban), Ryan Jaco and Keith Jaco (Lindsey Klump); great grandchildren Adrianna Biss, Asa Stickley, Remi Klaffer, Evee Klaffer, and Jackie Klaffer; siblings, Libby Meyer, John Jaco (Donna), and Esther Sullenger; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Gilbert and Louise (Witman) Jaco; great granddaughter, Emmy Pomboza; siblings, Lashaun Scott, Pam Buttner, Jareda Sullivan and Danny Jaco.
Memorial contributions may be given in Eldon’s name to the Marion V.A. Hospital 2401 West Main Street, Marion, IL 62959.
