Dorothy George

Dorothy George, age 86 of Brookport, Illinois passed away at 7:12 am on Saturday, January 25, 2025 at Baptist Health Paducah.

Funeral services will be held at 1 pm on Wednesday, January 29, 2025 at the Aikins-Farmer-Loftus-McManus Funeral Home with Dr. Joe Buchanan officiating. Burial will follow in the Metropolis Memorial Gardens.

Dorothy was a member of Metropolis First Baptist Church. She had previously worked at Credit Thrift and Theo Well Motors. She enjoyed playing pinochle with her group of friends.

Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Amanda Henson and husband Paul; daughter-in-law, Sabrina George; grandchildren, Clarissa Chilton, Jared Sexton and wife Britney, Jessica Jones, and Kelli Marshall and husband Jason; 13 great grandchildren, Kelix Sexton, Kanden Sexton, Brooklynn Thomas, Brenton Thomas, Bailey Blanton, Braydin Marshall, Samuel Marshall, Thomas Marshall, Caylin Coburn, Kennadee Short, Finn Cochran, Lofton Cochran, and Nova Eskridge; 1 Great Great Grandchild, Fiona; sister-in-law, Carol Howle; brother-in-law, Jimmy Ellis; several nieces and nephews.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, J.B. and Flora (Davenport) Howle; husband of 50 years, Don E. George; step daughter, Donello Sue George; son, Greg D. George; sister, Gwendolyn Lee Ellis; brother, Jackie Wayne Howle.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 29, 2025 from 11 am until 1 pm at the Aikins-Farmer-Loftus-McManus Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Jared Sexton, Terry Wayne Howle, Kent Howle, Rick Souder, Mike Mantle, and Todd Sumner.
