Dickie Land

Dickie “Pull Tight” Land, age 85 of Brookport, Illinois passed away at 5:03 am on Monday, February 12, 2024 at his daughter’s residence surrounded by his loving family.

Graveside services with masonic rites will be held at 1 pm on Wednesday, February 14, 2024 at the Hamletsburg Cemetery with Rev. David Siere officiating.

Dickie retired from Central Paving Company, was a member of Brookport First Baptist Church, and the Bay City Masonic Lodge. He loved his family deeply, was a jokester, and never met a stranger.

Dickie is survived by his daughters, Shelly Thompson and husband Lynn, Sherry Thompson and husband Charles, Rachael Little and husband Terry, and Debbie Owens; grandsons, Brandon Land, Daniel Little, Cameron Caraker, Chad Caraker; granddaughters, Sydney Bain and Taylor Sullivan; 16 great grandchildren; brother, Jack Land and wife Shirlyn; several nieces and nephews.

Dickie was preceded in death by his parents, Glen and Floella (Gilbert) Land; wife, Donna Fay Land; grandson, Eric Joel Caraker; sister, Betty Elam.

There will not be any visitation. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery for the service.

Memorials may be made in Dickie’s name to Brookport First Baptist Church Building Fund, 700 Pell Road, Brookport, Illinois 62910.

Pallbearers will be Chuck Medlin, Cameron Caraker, Brandon Land, Daniel Little, Chad Caraker, and Terry Little.
