David L. Mason

David L. Mason, 77 of Metropolis, IL, passed away on Wednesday, December 25, 2024 at his residence.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 4, 2024 at the Aikins-Farmer-Loftus-McManus Funeral Home.

David was an Army veteran and of Christian faith. He worked for Burlington Northern Santa Fe for 30 years as an engineer and yard master, then owned D & D Towing and Recovery in Metropolis for 22 years. David loved working and owning the towing company because it was a way he could help people. In his free time, he enjoyed working in his shop and riding his motorcycle.

David is survived by his wife of 38 years, Donna (Staples) Mason; children, Matt Mason, Brittnye Wise and husband John, David Mason and wife Julia, Bodhi Mason, and Josh Staples and wife Ginger; grandchildren, Hayden Staples, Collin Staples, Piper Mason, Lincoln Mason and Destiny Mason; one sister, Shirley Oliver and husband Billy; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Alice (Morse) Mason; one sister, Georgia Peters; and brother, Dale Mason.
