Connie (Athy) Gower

Connie Gower, age 97 of Brookport, Illinois passed away at 11:25 pm on Friday, August 2, 2024 at her residence surrounded by her family.

Eastern Star Rites will be held at 1 pm on Friday, August 9, 2024 followed by funeral services at Loftus-McManus Brookport Funeral Home with Rev. Glenn Seaton officiating. Burial will follow in the Maplelawn Park Cemetery.

Connie was retired from Magnavox in Paducah, KY, a member of First Methodist Church in Metropolis, and the Eastern Star Universe Chapter 508 for over 70 years.

Connie is survived by her grandchildren, Jason Morris and wife Jessica and Valerie Lesniak and husband Matthew; great grandchildren, Bohdi Morris, Olivia Lesniak, and Lucas Lesniak; several nieces and nephews.

Connie was preceded in death by her parents, Elmo and Modest (Young) Athy; husband, Eugene “Red” Gower; daughter and son-in-law, Jean Ann and Kenneth “Dale” Morris; sisters, Wanda Jackson and Ruth Knable.

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 9, 2024 from 10 am to 1 pm at the Loftus-McManus Brookport Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made in Connie’s name to the American Cancer Society, 1 E. Wacker Drive, Suite 1500, Chicago, Illinois 60601-1851.

Pallbearers will be Matthew Lesniak, Lucas Lesniak, and Bohdi Morris.
