Bobbie Everett Smith

Bobbie Everett Smith, age 84 of Brookport, Illinois passed away at 6:28 am on Friday, September 20, 2024 at the Ray and Kay Eckstein Hospice Care Center surrounded by his family.

Graveside services will be held at 1 pm on Wednesday, September 25, 2024 at the IOOF Cemetery in Metropolis with Pastor Tom Emmerson officiating.

Bobbie was of the protestant faith, had worked on the Smithland Lock and Dam, worked at Caterpillar, Southern Illinois Steel, farmed for Gene Stamme, and retired as a Jailer with the Massac County Sheriff’s Department.

Bobbie is survived by his wife of 62 years, Willa Mae Smith; daughters, Tracy Oliver and husband Steve and Lee Anne Smith; son, Robert Wayne Smith and wife Anna Kay; grandchildren, Shianne Smith and husband Tait, Coty Clapp, and Hunter Tyler Smith; step grandchildren, James LaGore, Jesse Coram and wife Jessica, and Jared Oliver; 14 great grandchildren; sisters, Shirley Tobin, Sharion Casey and husband Arnold, Beverly Bowman and husband Larry; several nieces and nephews.

Bobbie was preceded in death by his parents, Malchus I. and Dollie M. (Trout) Smith; grandson, Kelton Shane Smith; step grandson, Justin Oliver.

There will not be any visitation. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery for the services.

Memorials may be made in Bobbie’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.

Pallbearers will be Hunter Smith, James LaGore, Tod Douglas, and Dylan Douglas.
