Bernard Reineking

Mr. Bernard Reineking, age 79 of Metropolis, Illinois passed away at 6:10 pm on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at Massac Memorial Hospital.

Graveside services will be held at 10 am on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at St. John Lutheran Church Cemetery in Massac County with Rev. Frank Forthman officiating.

Bernard was a veteran of the United States Army, member of St. John Lutheran Church, a farmer, woodworker, had worked at Bonifield Brothers Trucking, Missouri Portland, and retired from the US Postal Service. He also served his community for many years as a board member and fireman with the Massac County Fire Department.

Bernard is survived by his children, Ashley Reineking and wife Paula and Melinda Travis all of Metropolis; grandchildren, Samantha Bremer and husband Nick of Jackson, TN, Casey Reineking of Metropolis, Granvil Travis and wife Kristin of Massac County, Alex Reineking of Metropolis; great grandchildren, Henry Bremer and Maybelle Travis; sister, Emily Bane and husband Bill of Minonk, IL; sister-in-law, Lora Mae Kruger of Metropolis; nephews, Steve Kruger, Barry Kruger, Rick Bane; niece, Julie Bane; and several cousins.

Bernard was preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert and Alma (Korte) Reineking; wife of 54 years, Mary Ann (Kruger) Reineking; brother-in-law, Clifford Kruger.

There will not be any visitation. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery for the services.
