Barbara J. (Konemann) Johnston

Barbara J. Johnston, 81 of Metropolis, IL, passed away on Thursday, September 9, 2021 at Southgate Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Metropolis.

Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, September 13, 2021 at I.O.O.F. Cemetery with Rev. Larry Lunsford officiating. There will be no visitation. Friends are asked to meet at the cemetery.

Barbara worked for many years at the Good Luck Glove Factory and then at Good Samaritan Nursing Home. She was of the Baptist faith and most of all, she loved and enjoyed being around her family.

Barbara is survived by her daughter, Cherie Bush and her special son-in-law, Gary W. Bush of Metropolis; three sons, Anthony Miller and wife Renee of Paducah, KY, John Miller and wife Laura of Dongola, IL, and Brian Miller and wife Rachel of Metropolis; stepson, Dwayne Johnston and wife Sheila of Metropolis; three stepdaughters, Lisa Dow of Metropolis, Vickie Russo of Joppa and Cinda Owens and husband Lee of Salem, IL; grandchildren, Brittany Hicks (Thomas), Adren Miller, Dalton, Dakota, Dhani, Jayden and Chuckie Miller, Leslie Herring, Brandon Mezo, Kenneth Miller (Olivia), Kristina Middleton (Josh), Layla Miller, Kaylee and Natalie Johnston, Jessie Hodge (Alex), Cassandra Quimby, Tommy Hodge, Courtney, Kimberly, Kami, Katie, Coty, Koltt, and Cardin Owens; 15 great grandchildren; two sisters, Marian Landis and Shirley Bunting (“Butch”); three brothers, Lowell “Preach” Konemann, Donald “Pat” Konemann (Audrey) and Robert “Bobby” Konemann (Barbara Sue); two sisters-in-law, Opal Konemann and Janice K. Konemann; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Nina Smith Konemann; husband, Loyd “Peewee” Johnston; sisters, Margie English and Jeanette Shreves; brothers, Bernard, Joe Warren and William Truman Konemann; two brothers-in-law, “Rus” English and Charles Shreves; two sisters-in-law, Jerlean Konemann and Janice R. Konemann; several nieces and nephews.
