Annie Gladys Brown Gentry, age 93 of Metropolis, Illinois went to her heavenly home at 11:20 pm on Saturday, January 9, 2021 from Southgate Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born on December 19, 1927 in Savannah, Tennessee the daughter of John H. and Cora Lee Brown. She married Frank Gentry on September 15, 1943 in Hayti, Missouri.
Funeral services will be held at 1 pm on Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at Lighthouse Assembly of God with Pastor Mark Russell officiating. Burial will follow in the Metropolis Memorial Gardens.
Annie was a member of Lighthouse Assembly of God and was lovingly known by many different names including: Grannie Annie, Grams, Grandma Annie, MeeMaw, Annie Boat, and Momma. Annie loved her family, especially her grandchildren, shopping, and cooking, which she was known for her famous chicken and dumplings.
Annie is survived by her children, Bob Gentry and wife Jane Ann of Metropolis, Bette Lange and husband Jerry of Catlettsburg, KY, Gary Gentry and wife Sue of Metropolis, and John Gentry and wife Lesli of Franklin, TN; 9 grandchildren, Michael Gentry (Jessica), Molly Stratemeyer (Josh), all of Metropolis, Mallory McVey (Nash) of Paducah, KY, Carrie McGuire (Kevin), of Catlettsburg, KY Brandon Lange (Tracy) of Raceland, KY, Jason Gentry (Amy), Barry Gentry all of Metropolis, Hugh Gentry and Reese Gentry both of Franklin, TN; 10 great grandchildren; one sister, Hazel Van Dyke of Hayti, MO; several nieces and nephews.
Annie was preceded in death by her parents; husband; grandson, Matthew Paul Lange; 7 brothers; 4 sisters.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 12, 2021 from 12 pm to 1 pm at Lighthouse Assembly of God.
