Ann (Wooley) Holmes

Ann Holmes, age 68 of Metropolis, Illinois was born on October 7, 1957 in Aurora Illinois and passed away on Friday morning February 20, 2026.

Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Wednesday, February 25, 2026 at Aikins-Farmer-Loftus-McManus Funeral Home with Rev. David Wright officiating. Burial will follow at Metropolis Memorial Gardens.

Ann worked as a Teacher’s Aide at Southern Seven Head Start and was a member of Joppa Missionary Baptist Church. Ann was a loving wife, mother, mamaw, and sister, who loved her family deeply. She was free spirited and lived in her flower child era, so in honor of this the family asks that those attending wear bright colors or your “Hippie” attire.

Ann is survived by her husband of almost 44 years, Roger Holmes; daughter, Julie Manley and husband Alan; son, James Holmes and wife Becca; granddaughters, Jillian Jones and Everly Holmes; brothers, Eric Wooley and Garret Wooley and wife Karla; step-sister, Carrie Harvey; nieces and nephews, Elizabeth Holley, Cameron Wooley, Eric Wooley and several other nieces and nephews; several great nieces, great nephews, and many friends.

Ann was preceded in death by her father and step-mother, Clarence and Dorothy Wooley; mother and step-father, Catherine and Donald Riley; step-brother, Dale Harvey.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 25, 2026 from 11 am to 2 pm at Aikins-Farmer-Loftus-McManus Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made in Ann’s name to Southern Seven Head Start, 416 East 9th Street, Metropolis, Illinois 62960 or Joppa Missionary Baptist Church Youth, P.O. Box 276, Joppa, Illinois 62953.

Pallbearers will be James Holmes, Alan Manley, Cameron Wooley, Jerry Barnett, Rick Eddington, and Billy Cohoon.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Chris Link, Eric Wooley, and Garret Wooley.

Music will be provided by Beth Adkins, Soloist.
