Mrs. Wilma Marie Laird, age 91, of Metropolis, IL, passed away at 7:25 p.m. on Sunday, September 14, 2014 at the Metropolis Rehab and Health Care Center.Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, September 17, 2014, at the Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Hardison officiating. Burial will follow in the Metropolis Memorial Gardens.Wilma Walters married Fred Laird on April 11, 1945. Mrs. Laird was saved on January 22, 1967. She was of the Baptist faith, attending Eastland Baptist Church in Metropolis.Wilma is survived by 2 sons, Freddie Lee Laird and Donald R. Laird and wife Patricia, all of Metropolis; 3 grandchildren, Donald Ray Laird II, Pamela Ann Krueter and husband Hunter, and Raquel Reddick and husband Travis; 5 great-grandchildren, Sarah Michelle Kreuter, Carlee Laird, Alexandria Wilke, Damon Riddick, and Shelbee Riddick; and several nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Hallie (Rupe) Walters; husband, Fred Laird; 2 sisters, Willa Lee Myrick and Wanda Story; infant brother, James; 2 infant sisters, Anna and Lucille; 2 brothers-in-law, Gilbert Myrick and Moss Story.Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 16, 2014 from 6 until 8 p.m. at the Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home.Pallbearers: Linnus Logeman, Jim Myrick, Dale Story, Carl Burnham, Stewart Weisenberger, Carl MedleyHonorary: Bob MyrickOnline condolences may be left at www.aikinsfarmer-millerfh.com.
