William “JR” Duncan, age 72 of Benton, KY, formerly of Brookport, Illinois passed away at 6:02 pm on Sunday, April 26, 2026 at Baptist Health Paducah.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 1, 2026 at Mt. Sterling Cemetery with Pastor Charles Tate officiating. There will be no visitation. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery.

JR is survived by his daughter, Renee Routon; 5 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; sisters, Pat Giltner and husband Steve, Carolyn Scott, Cindy Jeffords and husband Alan; brother-in-law, Danny Simpson; several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

JR was preceded in death by his parents, William Melvin and Shirley Ann (Edwards) Duncan; grandparents, Frank and Viola (Elrod) Duncan and Bill and Betty (Clapp) Edwards; 1 grandchild, Yesnia Noyola; sister, Debbie Simpson; brother, Billy Duncan; brother-in-law, Hughie Scott; nephews, Luke Jeffords and Zachary Duncan; nieces, Clarissa Henry and Tatum Scott.
