Obituary

William Charles Story, age 82 of Joppa, Illinois, passed away at 11:57 pm on Thursday, October 8, 2026 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital surrounded by his family.

Funeral services will be held at 1 pm on Wednesday, October 14, 2026 at Aikins-Farmer-Loftus-McManus Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Hillerman Baptist Church Cemetery.

Charles was a loving father and grandfather. He enjoyed mowing and tending to his yard. He retired from Joppa High School where he worked as a custodian.

Charles is survived by his daughter, Melissa Harris; son, Keith Story and wife Lisa; grandchildren, Taylor Story (Kaylin), Nikki Bowlin (Sam), Jacob Harris, Tucker Harris (Jessica), Hannah Harris; great grandchildren, Abel Harris, Addison Harris, Kolbie Harris, Kohen Harris, Kenley Harris, Carlene Harris, Nova Harris, Ellie Harris, Lydia Harris, Corbin Womack, Colson Bradley, Kaison Bradley, Beckett Bradley, Samuel Story, Hudson Story, and John Theo Bowlin; sister, Sue Bradley (Ronnie); sister-in-law, Jean Story; several nieces and nephews.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie B. and Aline (Hufsey) Story; son, Kenneth Story; brothers, James C. Story and Danny Story

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 14, 2026 from 11 am to 1 pm at Aikins-Farmer-Loftus-McManus Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made in Charle’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105 or Labor of Love Ministries, 2855 Jackson Street, Suite 4, Paducah, Kentucky 42003.
