Mr. Wayne Dale Verbarg, of Metropolis, IL, passed away on Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at Baptist Health Paducah surrounded by his loving family.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 17, 2015, at the St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church with Rev. Timothy A. Bean officiating. Burial will follow in Masonic Cemetery. Wayne Dale was a lifelong member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church. He began his working career after high school at Pansing Furniture and also drove a gas and oil truck to people's farms. Soon after, he started working at EEI where he stayed until retirement. After retirement, Wayne Dale started raising produce and rabbits, also raising livestock for several years.Wayne Dale is survived by his wife of 64 years, Alberta (Hillebrand) Verbarg of Metropolis; one son, Garry Verbarg of Metropolis; one daughter, Carolyn Verbarg of Metropolis; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Marie (Meyer) Verbarg; one daughter, Sandra Verbarg; infant brother, Harold Elmer Verbarg.Visitation will be held on Friday, October 16, 2015, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home and on Saturday, October 17, 2015 from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour at the St. Paul Lutheran Church.Expressions of sympathy may be given to St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church 520 Ferry Street Metropolis, IL 62960.Online condolences may be left at www.aikinsfarmer-millerfh.com.Pallbearers: Steve Korte, John Gipson, John Lewis, James Taylor, Bradley Meinders, Marvin Schwetman
