Vernon Buldtman, was born May 22, 1926 in Massac County at his parents' home near Round Knob, IL. He is the son of Edward and Hannah Foss Buldtman. He passed away on Tuesday, December 24, 2013 at Baptist Health Paducah in Paducah, KY.He was baptized on June 6, 1926 at the paternal home by the Rev. Ernest David Kiefel of Zion (Evangelical & Reformed) United Church of Christ. His uncles, Henry Foss Sr. and Albert Buldtman were his sponsors. He was confirmed May 5, 1940 at Zion (Evangelical & Reformed) United Church of Christ by the Rev. A. Youngschlager.He went to Round Springs School and graduated from New Columbia High School in 1944. He was born and raised on the farm where he still lives on near Round Knob just west of North Avenue. He farmed after he graduated from high school and then worked at Southern Illinois Steel of Metropolis ,then at the I.C. Railroad Shops in Paducah until 1982 when he retired, and is still helping his son, Robert, on the farm.On June 15, 1947, he married Verna Mae Brenningmeyer at St. John Lutheran Church of Metropolis by Rev. F.A. Wittig. She preceded him in death on May 4, 2013.Vernon is survived by a son, Robert Buldtman and companion Donna of Metropolis, IL; a daughter, Rhonda Cowan and husband Jerry of Kuttawa, KY; 4 granddaughters, Amanda Shelby and Kristin, Sarah Buldtman, Maggie Haverkamp, and Carrie Haverkamp; a great grandson, Ethan Shelby; and several nieces and nephews.Vernon was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Hannah (Foss) Buldtman; wife, Verna Mae (Brenningmeyer) Buldtman; an infant daughter; 2 sisters, Vernita Korte and husband Wilson and Velma Hilgeman and husband Lloyd.Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Saturday, December 28, 2013 at the Miller Funeral Home in Metropolis, IL. Rev. Tom Emmerson will officiate. Burial will follow in the Zion United Church of Christ Cemetery.Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 28, 2013 from 9 am until 11 am at the Miller Funeral Home.Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P.O.
