Obituary

Verna Mae (Brenningmeyer) Buldtman was born February 20, 1928 in Massac County to Clarence and Alice (Korte) Brenningmeyer. She was baptized in the home of her parents on February 24, 1928 by Rev. H. Wittke. She was confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church on August 23, 1942 by Rev. Henry Roloff. She was educated in Massac County Schools graduating from Metropolis Community High School in 1946.She and Vernon Buldtman were married on June 15, 1947 at St John Lutheran Church by Rev. F.A. Wittig. She then joined Zion United Church of Christ where she was a faithful member. She served as an officer, on several occasions, of the Women's Guild, taught Sunday school, Bible school, served as Jr. Choir Director, and helped with the quilting.She worked as secretary at Jefferson School for 26 years.She is survived by her husband, Vernon Buldtman; her son, Robert Buldtman and companion Donna; her daughter, Rhonda Cowan and husband Jerry; four granddaughters in which she took much pride and loved dearly, Amanda Shelby and Kristin, Sarah Buldtman, Maggie Haverkamp, and Carrie Haverkamp; one great grandson, who was the light of her life, Ethan Shelby; one sister, Frances Bremer; one brother, Wilson Brenningmeyer and wife Pat; several nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents, Alice and Clarence Brenningmeyer; brother, Raymond Brenningmeyer; sisters-in-law, Verneta Korte and husband Wilson, Velma Hilgeman and husband Lloyd; brother-in-law, Otis Bremer.Funeral services will be held at 10 am on Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at the Zion United Church of Christ. Dr. James Nelson will officiate. Burial will follow in the Zion United Church of Christ Cemetery.Visitation will be held on Monday evening, May 6, 2013 from 6 to 8 pm at the Miller Funeral Home in Metropolis and on Tuesday, May 7, 2013 from 9 am until the funeral hour at the church.Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Memorial/Honor Program, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.Music will be provided by Connie Hefner, organist.Pallbearers will be Mitch Bremer, Greg Stamme, Andy Stamme, Chris Cromeenes, Steve Korte, Monte Bremer, and Michael Brenningmeyer.Honorary pallbearers will be Mauri Forientine, David Brown, and Jim Cole.
