Verla (Adkinson) Owens, age 83 of Metropolis, IL formerly of Brookport, IL passed away at 12:18 pm on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at Southgate Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Graveside services will be held at 11 am on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at Pell Cemetery in Brookport with Bro. Harvey Baxter officiating.

Verla was a member of Mt. Sterling Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

Verla is survived by her daughter, Glenda Neftzger and husband Richard of Paducah, KY; 6 grandchildren, Bradley Belt and wife Robyn of Paducah, KY, David J. Adkinson of Reidland, KY, Tyra Neftzger and wife Amy of Dublin, Ireland, Erin Thomasson and husband Jessie of Benton, KY, Heather Slover and husband Mike of Carterville, IL, Emily Reamy of Carterville, IL; 12 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild on the way; daughter-in-law, Sandy Adkinson of Reidland, KY; sister, Sue Berger of Chattanooga, TN; brother, Maurice Pearcy of Brookport, IL; several nieces and nephews; step daughters, Marilyn Gallagher and husband Glen of Metropolis, IL and Melisa "Lisa" Davidson and husband Charlie of Ledbetter, KY; 8 step grandchildren; 8 step great grandchildren; 4 step great great grandchildren; several step nieces and step nephews; special adopted granddaughter, Abby Powell of Unionville, IL

Verla was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Emma (Pearson) Pearcy; 1st husband of 50 years, David A. Adkinson; 2nd husband, Troy Owens; sons, David Wayne Adkinson and Stanley Joe "Joe Stanley" Adkinson; grandson, Douglas Adkinson; sister, Inas Chandler; brother, Ed Ray Pearcy; step daughter, Vicki Hon; 1 step great grandson.

There will not be any visitation. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery for the services.

The family requests memorials be made in Verla's memory to the donor's favorite church or charity.
