Velma L. Allen Libby was born May 28, 1934 in Saline Co., IL, and departed this life on Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at her residence in Massac Co., IL.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 6, 2014, at the Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home with Rev. Alan Milligan officiating. Burial will follow in the Metropolis Memorial Gardens.Velma was devoted to her family, friends and community. She volunteered for almost every position at Franklin School, where her children attended, was a Girl Scout leader and treasurer at her church, Powers United Methodist Church. She worked part time at P.N. Hirsch, Davis Shoes and Lizzy Lynns. She was a proud member of the Massac Co. Homemakers and enjoyed spending time with them at their meetings and events.Velma is survived by her husband of 64 years, Charles Logan of Metropolis; 3 daughters, Karen Williams of Paducah, KY, Connie Oden of Evansville, IN, and Donna Libby of Metropolis; 5 grandchildren, Melissa Butler, Tim Williams, Anna Anderson, Spencer Oden and Jason Hillebrand; 7 great-grandchildren, Zachary Timmons, Lindsey, Charlie and Ford Williams, Conor and Chloe Anderson and Claira Hubbard; 1 sister, Betty Abby; 1 brother, Roger Allen; 2 sisters-in-law; and several nieces and nephews.Velma was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Nellie (Sinks) Allen; 1 son, Gary N. Libby; 1 grandson, Christopher N.
