Vallena Dell Sumnlers, age 79, passed away at her home on July 10, 2024 with her husband of 52 years, William Sumnlers Sr., at her side. She was born on December 27, 1944 to Vivian and Fern (Hubbs) Smith.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 16, 2024 at the Aikins-Farmer-Loftus-McManus Funeral Home with Jim Trimble officiating. Burial will follow in Metropolis Memorial Gardens.

Vallena was a very kind and caring person who never met a stranger. She was loved by all, especially her family and never spoke bad about anyone unless you made her mad (which was hard to do). She loved to quilt and made several for her children and grandchildren when she was younger. Vallena liked growing flowers, cooking, reading and spending time with her family, especially the grandbabies. She was a housewife and worked at Hardees in Metropolis after her children were grown.

She loved her dogs and even took care of the stray cats that came to her house. She would do anything for others, even give them the shirt off her back (as long as she had another one to put back on). Vallena was a wonderful wife, mom and friend. She was loved by many and will be missed by all, especially her family.

Vallena is survived by her husband; four children, Zandra Fasolo and husband Danny, Bobby Vaughn, William Sumnlers Jr. and wife Angela, and Alva Sumnlers and wife Sara; 11 grandchildren, DJ, Josh and Brandi Fasolo, Tabatha and Bobby Vaughn, Austin, Alaina and Avalyn Sumnlers, Ethan, Arabella and Apollonia Sumnlers; several great grandchildren and nieces and nephews; three brothers, Louia, Larry and James Smith; three sisters, Betty Stettner, Alouise Smith and Mary Blankenship.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother and two sisters.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday evening, July 15, 2024 at the Aikins-Farmer-Loftus-McManus Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be given in Vallena's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
