Mr. Urbie Pollard, 89, of Metropolis, IL, died Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at Lourdes Hospital in Paducah.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at the Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home in Metropolis with Robin Mizell and Jim Faughn officiating. Burial will follow in the Metropolis Memorial Gardens with military rites.
Mr. Pollard was a veteran of the US Navy, serving in World War II. He was a member of Teamsters Union Local 236 of Paducah, KY and the Metropolis VFW Post 3847. Mr. Pollard was a truck driver from 1947 to 1985. After his retirement, he spent his time bowling, farming, and raising cattle. He was a faithful member of 4th and Park Church of Christ in Metropolis.
Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Wanda Pollard; one son, Harry Pollard and wife Tanya; three grandchildren, Jennifer Larrison and husband Rob, Jessica Lewis and husband Chad, and Kelsey Pollard; six great grandchildren, Olivia, Alex, Aiden, and Wyatt Larrison and Hudson and Holden Lewis all of Metropolis; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Urbie Sr. and Hattie Pollard; one son, Bruce Pollard; and one brother, Bill Pollard.
Visitation will be held on Monday, March 28, 2016 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home in Metropolis.
