Mr. Tom M. Adkins, 81, of Metropolis, IL, passed away at 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 6, 2013 at the Metropolis Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.Memorials services will be Monday June 10, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home, Rev. Louis Brinker will officiate.Tom is survived by his wife Pat, One daughter, Kay Adkins and husband Barry Gowin of Ashland, KY; one Son, Brad Adkins and wife Rhonda of Metropolis, IL; One grandson, Kyle Adkins of Metropolis, IL; One sister, Joy Rhodes of Linden, TN; and one brother, Wendell Adkins of Paducah, KY; One Brother and sister in law, Wayne and Betty Riley of Metropolis, IL; and several nieces and nephews. He graduated from Benton High School in Kentucky and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He played basketball at Murray State and coached basketball and baseball in Western Kentucky and Southern Illinois, having taught and served as Principal at Joppa High School. He was also an avid golfer.Visitation will be Monday June 10, 2013 from 9 a.m. until the funeral hour at 11 a.m. at the Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home.
