Timothy Wade Glidden, 57 of North Port, FL, formerly of Metropolis, IL, and Modesto, IL, passed away peacefully surrounded by love ones in Port Charlotte, FL, on Friday, May 24, 2024. Tim was born on October 13, 1966 in Paducah KY to Ansel and Virginia (King) Glidden. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 1st, 2024 at Aikins-Farmer-Loftus-McManus Funeral Home in Metropolis, IL. Burial will follow at Mt. Sterling Cemetery.
Tim was of the Christian faith and loved Jesus. Over the years he worked at Big John's in Metropolis, Walmart in Sparta, IL, and The Front Porch Cafe in Modesto, IL.
He loved meeting people and there was no such thing as a stranger to him. Tim's love for music covered many genres, Elvis was a favorite. He also packed a lot of adventures into his life, swimming with dolphins, boating, air boat rides, riding ATV's, just to name a few. Throughout his life, Tim brought awareness to what an individual with Down Syndrome can accomplish. His beautiful smile and loving heart will be sorely missed by so many.
Tim is survived by brothers, Larry Glidden (Nancy) of Parkman, ME, Greg Glidden (LeAnne) of Port Charlotte, FL, and Denver, NC, and Stephen Glidden (Missy) of Metropolis, IL; sister, Marsha Turner of North Port, FL; brother-in-law, Brad Turner of Modesto, IL; nieces, Pamela, Alicia Beth, Brittany and Lacey; nephews, Paul, Peter, Shannon, Blake, Cody, Dylan and Logan; several great nieces and great nephews; cousins, and many, many friends.
Tim is preceded in death by his parents; maternal grandparents, Alpheus and Ada King and paternal grandparents, Alden and Martha Glidden.
Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home on Saturday, June 1st.
