Tammy Story, 61 of Metropolis, IL, passed away peacefully with her friends by her side on Sunday, December 8, 2024 at Baptist Health Paducah. She bravely fought a courageous battle against multiple life-threatening illnesses with dignity and grace.

Tammy was born the only child to Tom and Gloria Story on April 9, 1963 in California. As a young girl, they moved from California to Metropolis. She graduated from Massac County High School in 1981. At 15, Tammy started her serving career by waiting tables at her parent's restaurant, the Fortress Steakhouse. After she graduated high school, Tammy attended and graduated from beauty school and continued her career as a server.

Tammy did everything with tremendous strength, courage and conviction and was oblivious to the profound and lasting effect she made on many people's lives. She loved animals and was a devoted daughter to her parents and a true friend to many. She has now rejoined her mother after 13 months apart and father after 22 years.

She will be forever loved by her friends and will never be forgotten. We loved you, Tammy. Rest in peace.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 12, 2024 at Metropolis Memorial Gardens with Bro. Joe Quint officiating. There will be no visitation. Friends are asked to meet at the cemetery.
