Obituary

C. SUE SUMNER, was born in Metropolis on May 12, 1937, and passed away peacefully on June 7, 2026, in Metropolis.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, June 13, 2026 at Aikins-Farmer-Loftus-McManus Funeral Home with Rev. Keith Tilford officiating. Burial will follow in Metropolis Memorial Gardens.

Sue was a Christian and rejoiced in her faith and love of the Lord. Having served in many capacities throughout her life, she was a long-time member and Elder of First Christian Church of Metropolis.

She was a Registered Nurse and retired from Lourdes Hospital in Paducah, having worked in many departments. She was a loving and caring medical professional.

Sue is survived by her daughters, Evelyn Worden and Elaine Snyder, and their father, James "Bo" Yates; her stepson, Todd Sumner (SuVonne); grandchildren, James Worden, Anthony Snyder (Elly), Katherine Walters (Edward), Ashley Rodriguez (John); step-grandchildren, Meredith Bunting (Bryan), Madeline Murphy (Mitch); great-grandchildren, Micah Neitz, Logan Neitz, Emmalee Neitz, Edison Rodriguez, Colin Worden, Aida Rodriguez; step- great grandchildren, Mia Bunting, Georgia Bunting, Max Murphy; her niece, Cindy Cobb; and sister-in-law, Jeanna Evers.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Rolland and Mariam (Walters) Evers; husband, Ronald W. (Ronnie) Sumner; daughter, Elizabeth Hooker; sister, Ann Evers; brother, Daniel Evers; nephew, Patrick Dresser.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2026 from 10 am until 11 am at Aikins-Farmer-Loftus-McManus Funeral Home with service to follow.

Memorial contributions may be given in her name to First Christian Church, 420 Catherine Street, Metropolis, Illinois 62960.
